"Essential Elements" ~ 2010 Easter Seals Painting

I was given an amazing opportunity to create a large piece for an Easter Seals gala in Toronto. The acrylic painting called "Essential Elements" is 40"x60". This piece was showcased at the dinner on May 12th and will be on display at Bruce Power to commemorate the 2010 Toronto Tribute Gala. I had choosen the milkweed to symbolize our connections and responsibilites to the children of easter seals ... I share with you the writting that went with the painting:

"Essential Elements"

The Monarch Butterfly experiences many cycles of growth throughout its lifetime. Each unique stage brings them closer to reaching their full potential. Without the Monarch Butterflies, nature's living creatures would certainly feel a loss. The Monarch's greatness is made possible by the Milkweed plant.
Just as the Monarchs need the milkweed to exist, so do the Children of Easter Seals need our support. Our seeds of generosity and care provide enormous opportunity through the Easter Seals Summer Camp programs. It is here where the children experience new levels of growth - giving them wings to reach their full potential.
In this moment, the seedpod opens her heart-releasing a future filled with glorious potential ... a future that is worth our attention, our energy, and our investment.

Comments from Students & Teachers!

I have been asked to teach art in the Public Schools throughout Grey/Bruce this year. Working with children on a creative level is an experience of a life time! For me to witness firsthand the building of confidence and the pure joy that is created as a result of children engaging in art, is absolutely incredible! Not only do they take away such greatness ... society as a whole benefits from young people connecting with themselves in ways they never knew possible. I share with you beautiful words of expression from some very talented children from the Hillcrest School in Teeswater:

"My experience was awesome, and it was exciting and fun. You really learn a lot!"
Justin, age 12

"My experience with Mrs. Susan Seitz was amazingly awesome, and if I could do it again I would do it in a heartbeat. I would highly recommend it to everyone."
Kyle, age 14

"It was like music to your eyes!"
Tyler, age 13

"Susan's experience and gift of art was a value to the elementary curriculum. Her positive and high enthusiastic energy created a working environment that was interactive and engaging for students of all learning levels. It was a remarkable experience."
